Have you ever looked at a successful woman and thought she had it all figured out? So many powerful women carry themselves with an air of confidence because that's what they have to do in order to gain the credibility and respect needed to succeed.
But underneath that strong exterior, they're likely facing obstacles and challenges that hit at the heart.
Join us for a special partnership event where Parlay House Founder Anne Devereux-Mills and Sarah LaFleur, Founder and CEO of womenswear brand M.M.LaFleur, sit down with each other to uncover the stories beneath the ones you've heard publicly. They'll shine a light on forging a path when there is no roadmap-- and how they've learned to keep the faith when the hard stuff threatens to blow you off course. We think that their private stories made public will give us lots to share with each other.
Sarah LaFleur is the Founder & CEO of M.M.LaFleur. Sarah founded M.M.LaFleur in 2013 with a mission to help women take the work out of getting dressed, so they can focus on the work that matters to them. Prior to founding M.M.LaFleur, she worked at Bain & Co. in New York and TechnoServe in South Africa. Sarah sits on the Advisory Council of the New York Federal Reserve and is a board member of the Downtown Alliance of New York City. Most recently, she is a Henry Crown Fellow within the Aspen Global Leadership Network at the Aspen Institute. She graduated from Harvard University. M.M.LaFleur is named after her mother, whom she calls her biggest inspiration.
After a 25-year career as a multiple-time CEO in the world of advertising, Anne Devereux-Mills realized that her work-life had been built on transactional relationships that were more driven by expectations and extraction. She didn’t want to be valued for her power and influence, but rather, to create relationships with women who wanted to be connected based on trust, empathy, openness, and authenticity. She wanted to find “four quarters rather than 100 pennies” in her relationships.
She founded Parlay House to make sure the next chapter of her life not only filled those needs but created a space for other women to do the same. Her goal: to ignite deep and meaningful bonds that transcend age, race, history, and sexual orientation. She started the organization in 2012 by inviting a small group of strangers into her home to talk about topics that they couldn’t share elsewhere. Their collective energy gave birth to the now-global Parlay House organization.
